I've been enjoying the nice weather we had in the past couple weeks so I did not have a chance to update my blog. In the summer I love spending time outside. There is so much to do. Going to the beach, walking, travelling, camping, picnics.
This Applesauce-Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake is a great treat to bring on your hikes or picnics. It's a one-bowl recipe, I love those, and you can prepare it in only 10 minutes. I like the fact that it has 2 cups of applesauce and different spices. When you mix chocolates chips with cloves, cardamon & cinnamon you end up with a cake that delivers flavor wise.
I've seen this cake on Noble Pig's blog and made it right away. I have to give high marks for this cake and this is already a favorite.
On a side note I'm going to Seattle on Sunday. I need your recommandations. Please leave them in the comments section. Thanks in advance :)

Helene, the cake looks absolutely yummy :-)
Enjoy the weather :-)
I saw this on The Noble Pig also and thought even though it stuck to her pan it looked awfully yummy! Sometimes we just see something and KNOW we need to make it!
That's a lovely cake! I saw this on Cathy's site too. Glad to hear it is a winner.
How lucky that you're going to Seattle! I loved it there! There are so many great restaurants. I ate at Lola and Boka, which are both downtown, and they were both fantastic! The Herbfarm is supposed to be outstanding. They catered one of the lunches for us at the IFBC and it was fabulous.
There are also lots of great casual places down at Pike Place Market You can't go wrong there.
Have a wonderful trip!
gorgeous, just gorgeous!
Incorporating applessauce into cakes have never worked well for me somehow. It is apparently a butter substitute and everything, so I have really tried to work it in, but not much luck.
Yours looks straight out of a lovely gourmet dessert book.
So glad it worked for you. I can't wait to make it again!
Hmmm, Seattle. Love it. I'm sure you will be going to Pike's Market. If little children are going to be with you, The childrens Science Museum in Seattle Center is fabulous.
As a Clevelander, I very much appreciate the need to take advantage of the summer when it is actually here.
What a pretty cake! One bowl recipes are the best :)
Is that fresh whipped cream in the center? Yum!
What a great looking cake! I've never been to Seattle before, but always wanted to go. I hope you do a trip recap!
What a stunning presentation for something so simple. Enjoy your time in Seattle. I have never been!
Your cake looks amazing.
Beautiful presentation! I too like to spend time outdoors when the weather is nice, especially considering it seems like 6 months of the year are cold and miserable.
It's so beautiful how you represented it! :)
Looks so beautifully dense and moist! :) Have a great time in Seattle!
I bet this is moist and delicious with so much applesauce in it. Your presentation is gorgeous!!
oh, I'd like this! Glad to know it's a winner. Have fun in Seattle...I've never been there, but I'd like to go.
My my! Amazing cake with great flavors!
I've never been to Seattle, so don't have any recommendations, but I suggest checking out zagat or the local newspapers!
Look absolutely fabulous Helene. Well, no surprise there, considering where your source was. I also had tried couple of her recipes, and it was good too.
Your cake looks lovely! Glad you didn't have the stick-to-the-pan disaster. Anchovies and Olives is a new and hot restaurant that is supposed to be awesome. Mostly fish. (I haven't been there b/c I'm veg.) If you want incredible Italian, try Spinasse on Capitol Hill. If you want casual bistro French, try Cafe Presse also on Capitol Hill. If you want Asian, check out Wild Ginger. It's been around forever but I still think the food is terrific.
I have this printed out form Cathys site also. I went to make it nd noticed I was out of cardamom. I cant wait to try this one. it was one of those that did jump at me and yours looks delicious!
J'aime particulièrement le chocolat et je l'aime encore plus lorsque l'on y ajoute de la cardamome et de la cannelle! Jolie présentation!
I love cakes with apple taste.
And then on top of it theer is chocolate chip inside the budnt.
Who can resist something so delicous like this.
Beautiful budnt and delcious too.
Gorgeous cake with the powdered sugar and raspberries.
Have fun in Seattle. I've never been but would love to go to the Pike's fish market there. I seem to recall that Val at "More than burnt Toast" did a series on Seattle recently. Check it out.

Good luck on selling your home. I just love Ottawa (although as a hiker the rockies are enticing to me). Also it would be nice to have another foodie in O-town.
Beautiful photo of the bundt cake.
I agree that when the weather is nice there are so many wonderful things to do outside, that I just can't seem to find the time to blog. This cake looks delicious, and it's so nice that it was quick and easy!
the cake alone would be heavenly, but your blob of cream on top is perfection. have fun in seattle!
That bundt cake looks really yummy!!! I made a red velvet cake last week and used this recipe http://www.howcast.com/videos/139827-How-To-Make-Red-Velvet-Cake and it turned out really nicely. I also saw mini red velvet bundt cakes on another blog and might try to make some after seeing them.
You must be having a great time enjoying the outdoors! This cake sounds fantastic with the applesauce and spices. Looks delicious!
Pretty and delicious!
Cheers,
Rosa
I haven't been to Seattle, but try the sushi, I've heard it's great!

Delicious cake, perfect with ice cream! Have a great time in Seattle!
Apple sauce and chocolate chips is a new combination for me, but it sounds great, and the cake looks beautiful!
Your Bundt turned out very well Helene. Of course a trip to Pike Market will be in order in Seattle. I highly recommend a great way to experience the market by taking a tour with Jan Marie at Seattle Bites Food Tours. It is 3 hours of tasting, history and sightseeing and then you have the rest of the day to explore all the fabulous restaurants and shops, if you are still hungry of course:D
what a lovely creation... :)
Mmm delicious. I bet the cake is really moist! Have fun in Seattle. If you're able to, I'd recommend checking out Theo Chocolates. You can take a tour of their chocolate factory and get to try all their yummy creations.
cake looks great!
Seattle is awesome! I did not have one bad meal there and I think I ate at a different place every couple hours! enjoy your visit!
