TODRIC'S RESTAURANT:
The best
new spot in town: Todric’s!
About a
week ago, my mom and I had the incredible opportunity to be treated to dinner
by Todd and Eric at their restaurant, Todric’s.
What I love most about Todd and Eric is that they are so passionate
about sharing great food and a great dining experience with whoever comes
through the door. I felt at home as soon
as I entered their restaurant and spent one of the greatest evenings with them.
Todd and
Eric wanted to showcase their new menu and they had us dine “à la bonne
franquette”. We each had different meals
and it didn’t take long for for us to lift each other's plates for pictures and share delicious
bites.
We started
off the evening with some appetizers. My
mom and I shared a skewer platter. The beef was so tender, the chicken satay
and the pork were so flavourful and the dips complemented each perfectly. I sat beside the sweetest young girl who
asked her mom if she could share her polenta fries with us, and boy am I glad
she did, they were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I’ve
never had polenta before, but I need to learn more about it because it was
delicious!
For the
main course, I had stuffed pork with mashed potatoes, veggies and a cranberry
sauce. My mom had veal ravioli -- I gotta say, I was a little jealous. Everything
on the table looked great, and everyone was very happy with their meals.
Finally
came the dessert. Oh, the dessert! I had to tell Todd, I know I’m young, but that
was the best cheesecake of my life! Todd quickly retorted being young wasn’t a
bad thing... But the cheesecake was so light and it made my taste buds very
happy. The chocolate cake didn’t look half bad either.
At Todrics,
you get fine dining in a convivial atmosphere.
You can see the chef cooking your meal from your table and nothing he
prepares will disappoint. You can tell Eric spent a lot of time perfecting his
dishes so you really get the best value for your money.
Todric’s
doesn’t get a lot of foot traffic because they’re not in the market or in
Centretown, but they’re just off Montreal Road and I promise, they are worth
the few extra minutes. It will become your favourite date spot!
